Acarichthys heckelii fish is a type of freshwater fish that has a beautiful body color. This beauty is an advantage of Acarichthys heckelii fish to be used as ornamental fish in water tanks. This fish comes from Colombia, Peru and Brazil. 

In the breeding process Acarichthys heckelii fish breed by laying eggs. This fish in nature inhabits in public waters such as rivers that have a moderate level of lighting.

When we will try to keep Acarichthys heckelii fish in water tanks, there are several things that we need to pay attention to including the container or place of fish maintenance, water quality, feed given and maintenance. 

1. Maintenance Container. 

Acarichthys heckelii fish can live comfortably if kept in the right maintenance container. This maintenance container can be an aquarium made of glass. A suitable aquarium shape is rectangular with the amount of water needed approximately 150 liters. 

Aerators and water filters can also be installed in this rearing container. The aerator serves to increase the dissolved oxygen content in the water while the water filter serves to keep the aquarium water quality in optimal condition. Then in addition we can also install aquatic plants, rocks and lights into the aquarium. 

2. Water quality. 

Some water quality parameters that need to be considered are pH, water hardness and water temperature. The pH value of water suitable for keeping Acarichthys heckelii fish is 7.2. Then for the water hardness level of 10 and for the water temperature value of 25 degrees Celsius. 

3. Fish feed. 

In maintenance activities in aquariums or water tanks Acarichthys heckelii fish can be fed in the form of artificial feed, namely pellets. 

4. Maintenance. 

Acarichthys heckelii fish kept in water tanks can experience stress, especially if the aquarium water conditions deteriorate to keep the aquarium water quality good, the aquarium needs to be cleaned by draining some of the aquarium water and replacing it with new water. 

Acarichthys heckelii fish are aggressive and have a habit of swimming at the top, middle and bottom of the aquarium. In the process of growth, this fish can reach a length of 13 cm .
